Faisal Karim Kundi was elected as Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly on 19 March 2008, after his election to the National Assembly (MNA) in the 18 February general elections. Kundi is also the Patron of the Young Parliamentarians Forum (YPF) in the National Assembly and is chairman of the Assembly’s House and Library Committee.
As Deputy Speaker, Kundi visited China in April 2010, the UK in August and May 2009, Canada in May 2009 and Geneva in October 2008. He is a member of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). Beginning his political career in 2002, he served the PPP as Divisional Coordinator for D. I. Khan.
Kundi belongs to a prominent political family of the Khyber-Pakhtoonkhwa (formerly the North-West Frontier Province). His father, Fazal Karim Kundi, was an MNA from 1990 to 1993. Kundi’s grandfathers, Fazal Qadeem Kundi and Justice (retd) Faizullah Khan Kundi, also served terms as legislators (the latter was also a federal minister in 1970s).
